July 16, 2009. Wayne Short presented the 32nd Annual Western Film Fair in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, hosted by Kathy and Tommy Hildreth. (L- R) Beverly Washburn, Kathy Garver, Eddie Wallace, Deanna Lund, Donna Fargo, Wright King, me, Rebecca Holden, Marlyn Mason, Gordie Peer, Michael Forest, Johnny Meeks, Gary Lockwood and George Hamilton, lV. |
Beautiful Charlene Mulligan, Manager of The Sundance Clarion Plaza Hotel in Winston-Salem where the event was held, is utterly fantastic. What a gal, totally on top of everything and then some. Your wish is her command. Ya just cain't beat that Southern hospitality. |
Agusto is part of the best Hotel staff ever! |
Rev. Bill Loving is VP of The Western Film Fair. |
Wright King grabbed adorable Beverly Washburn and put our heads together!
Expert six shooter, bullwhip stunts and at rope tricks, Gordie Peer seems to have taught Marlyn Mason the ropes, along with Kathy Garver and Deanna Lund in tow. |
Mike Forest and I wanted to join in the fun too. |
Marlyn will agree that volunteer Sandra Smythers went beyond the call of duty. She went to hell and back to find what was needed, like when I ran out of photos, she drove to find a place that would get them done pronto and how would I have gotten dressed to make it on to the stage? She was definitely my guardian angel! |
Speaking of guardian angels, this was old home week. My buddies Caroline and Dr. Fred Eichleman and Kit and Shannon drove in from Roanoke, VA. Kit and Shannon have come to my aid at many conventions. What would I have done without them? It was so great to have them around again. |
At the banquet, Donna Fargo was presented with the Ernie Tubbs Award. |
So happy to see Kit. |
And Shannon |
Dr. Fred thought it would be a fun idea for me to perform my club act at the Awards Banquet as I once did at his Rising Star Point North event. I protested at first, but figured it was time to get off my duff and do something. Fun to see the surprised look on the faces of my peers. |
How adorable Eddie "The Sunshine Boys" Wallace was when he performed a most impressive piano solo, plus told jokes I'd never heard... and the funniest. |
My old friend and publicist Michael Marx is responsible for getting all of us to the WFF. |
There were four TOS actors there. Recognize TOS buddy Michael "Apollo" Forest? |
Sweet Dottie is responsible for my being here at this convention. We met at another con in Asheville, where she insisted I come to Winston-Salem. What a gal! |
Celebs on stage after the presentation. Beautiful Rebecca Holden (center) also treated us with her golden tones. Buy her new CD. (www.rebeccaholden.com). You won't be sorry. |
